Meet our team:
Owner/ Head Coach
He made the move from Chicago to Florida in 2014 to help assist his father who was a quadriplegic. In the beginning of 2020, David, decided to make a change and joined Crossfit with the promise of sticking it out for at least a year. When his father passed at the end of 2020, it became the catalyst to becoming a coach. Coaching became a passion for him because he was able to witness how quickly someones life could be changed. Purchasing the gym was an easy decision for Coach David because he wanted to be able to continue making an impact among his fellow athletes.
You can find Coach David there most days with Pinnacle's mascot, his dog Penny.

She retired from a 20 year career in law enforcement from the great Garden State, New Jersey.
She was first introduced to Crossfit in 2012. The intensity and physical challenge of it reminded Maria of her police training and the "Never give up" attitude she strives to live by.
From her very first workout, Maria was hooked. Maria's background and her passion for living a "fit for life" lifestyle, fuel her passion and positive energy she brings too coaching. What Maria loves most about coaching is that she has the opportunity to make a positive difference in peoples lives, helping them become the best version of themselves they can be.

Coach
Coach Ken joined the staff of Pinnacle in 2021, shortly after achieving his CF Lv.1. He lives in Ocala with Nina, the love of his life, and they have been married for over 35 years. He is a financial advisior and is active in networking groups and in community causes. When he's not working or working out, you will find him browsing estate sales, taking ballroom lessons with his wife, or playing golf. He also competes in the CrossFit games each year.
Coach Ken came to CrossFit because of an ultimatum given to him by his doctor to get back into shape; including losing weight, reducing blood pressure and changing his diet. After a year of committing to Crossfit he was able to bring his levels down to 'normal' and he has been able to keep it that way since. Ken believes Crossfit works best because of the scheduled classes and times, along with a coach who helps you to find the best way for you to do the workout if the movements and weights are too challenging. Knowledgeable coaches can help increase your skill at everything; including weightlifting, gymnastics and cardio because you will need those basic skills each day. Ken is here to help you as one of our longest-tenured members and as one of the oldest members of Pinnacle.

CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity. And what exactly does that mean?
Constantly Varied - We do different, FUN workouts every single day.
Functional Movements - These are real life movements that require your whole body to work together from core to extremity. We do not do bicep curls or leg extensions. We perform movements that allow you to pick up your children, carry groceries, and get a dish off the top shelf. Our functional movements will improve your way of life.
High Intensity - Our workouts are short and to the point, fast and furious, rarely over 15-20 min long. These high intensity workouts increase your energy making you feel and look better than you ever have before. No more back and bi day followed by 45 min on the treadmill. Get in, do work, and get out. You will see results you will like.
Increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. To put it simply, it means the ability to do more stuff, for longer periods of time, that are hard to do, and do them better than before.
CrossFit measures fitness through 10 general physical skills:
1. Cardio endurance - body’s ability to process oxygen
2. Stamina - muscles' ability to process glycogen (energy)
3. Strength - your muscles' ability to apply force
4. Flexibility - ability to maximize range of motion at a joint
5. Speed - ability to minimize time cycle of a repeated movement
6. Power - ability of the body to apply maximum force in minimum time
7. Coordination - ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into one movement
8. Agility - ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another
9. Balance - control the body's center of gravity over its base
10. Accuracy - control movement in a given direction or at certain intensity
CrossFit will help you improve in all 10 of these domains leading to a healthier, more fit life.
